Every label tells a story…. Here’s the artist’s story

What is your art background like?

With the help of a handful of influential figures, I am more or less a self taught illustrator and designer. I learned how to draw by burning through sketch books at my kitchen table, bugging talented people for advice, and eventually finding my place in applying my studies to commercial art and design.

What inspires you as an artist?

I think as an artist you get an opportunity to create things that didn’t exist otherwise and as a designer you get to apply it to commerce and watch your creativity spill out into the world in a more accessible way.

What do you hope viewers will feel/experience when they view your art?

Some level of interest, attraction, or curiosity.

Does this particular piece have a backstory you could share?

This particular piece was the first illustration for a series of labels. It was named after a popular fishing spot near the brewery location. And as the first piece of art in the series it stylistically needed to set the tone for a multitude of subject matter, color ranges and compositions. All so that the labeling system could be infinitely extended into an endless amount of beers while also maintaining label consistency and brand equity.
