flag_digitallabelMilford NH. Sixty professionals from the US label industry—manufacturers and suppliers from all over the country—convened on Wednesday at the 6th Annual FLAG members meeting at sites in Bedford, Amherst and Milford, NH. The acronym FLAG stands for Flexo Label Advantage Group, and is, among other things, a buyers group connecting vendors and manufacturers for mutual benefit. Described as one of “the most exciting associations in the label industry,” FLAG has grown from about 15 participants to more than 60 this year, and includes some of the biggest names in the printing industry.

John McKay, president and founder of FLAG, commented, “Many thanks to Nick Calvetti, President of Amherst Label, and his whole team for opening up his company to facilitate this year’s FLAG Member Tour. This is an opportunity unlike any other in our industry and we thank Nick for that.” flagadvantage.com

A win/win for members and vendor partners is the goal of the FLAG organization and its events. By all accounts the conference host and hospitality sites, Bedford Village Inn, and LaBelle Winery, delighted guests, many of whom are unfamiliar with the granite state’s hospitality.

The Member Tour at Amherst Label was a unique opportunity to see the company’s new Domino N-610i Digital Inkjet Press with CEI Boss Finisher, a system installed in October and producing its first customer orders this month. One guest described the press as “dazzling,” in its speed, quality and overall capabilities. Amherst Label’s mainstay printing method, Flexography or FLEXO for short, was in production mode during the tour, including the 18-inch Propheteer, the 10-inch Propheteer, and the 13-inch, 8-color Nilpeter presses. The third star in Amherst Label’s printing processes, Silk Screen Printing, was a highlight of the tour, as participants saw a “Life in NH” label produced by hand.

The event gave management and the entire Amherst Label team the welcome opportunity to shine up and open our doors to colleagues in American manufacturing, the label industry in particular.
